Susan Fukushima graduated from the
University of Hawaii with a degree in Music Education.
Peter Coraggio was her piano teacher. Susan taught the
Yamaha Music Course for four years and has had training in Japan
as well as years of teaching experience here in Hawaii.
her piano school in 1980 in Kaneohe, Hi. She has entered her
piano students in competitions including the Honolulu Symphony
Associates Concerto Competition as well as The Windward Council
of the Arts. In 1991, 2001 and 2002 her students soloed with
the Honolulu Symphony. Susan's piano students have performed in
recitals at Pohai Nani Good Samaritan, Orvis Auditorium and
Washington Place. Ms. Fukushima has been Treasurer for the
Honolulu Piano Teachers Association and has been an active
member of the National Guild of Piano Teachers for the past 23
years. Her students have performed in the National and
International levels and have scored very well. In the last
two years Susan has been a judge for the Hawaii Music Teachers
Association's competition in Levels pre-level to Level 3.
Ms. Fukushima believes that if you
start when you are young, acquire a good ear, and develop good
playing habits, you can become a very good pianist.
